Darfur Peace & Development is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization with        headquarters in Washington, DC and offices in Khartoum and El Fasher Sudan.
       DPDO provides humanitarian and development assistance to the victims of conflict in        Darfur, Sudan without regard to ethnicity, gender, age or religious beliefs.
      
DPDO works to foster reconciliation, to facilitate just governance and to enable Darfurians        to rebuild their homeland in effective, sustainable ways.
       DPDO also promotes awareness of the crisis in the United States and        advocates for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Unknown armed men have ambushed a peacekeeping patrol with the hybrid United Nations-African Union mission in the war-torn Darfur region of Sudan, injuring one of the blue helmets and stealing a vehicle.

November 10, 2008 (WASHINGTON) Activists set up some 350 tents on the national mall in front of the United States Capitol building this weekend, hoping to reenergize the U.S. Darfur movement and influence the president-elect.
Each of the tents was sent by a community somewhere in the United States, representing approximately 350 cities in 48 states.

11/10/08 - UNAMID peacekeepers attacked in Darfur
November 11, 2008 (EL FASHER) Nigerian peacekeepers were ambushed on Sunday in West Darfur, wounding a peacekeeper, and on the same day attackers shot at a humanitarian vehicle, wounding the driver in the left hand, according to a spokesman for the peacekeepers.
The UN – African Union hybrid operation in Darfur (UNAMID) is tasked with protecting civilians and humanitarian workers, but it has come under attack.
